Rephrase the Future

Rephrase is celebrating one year! As we mark this milestone, we invite you to join us in reimagining the future. In a time when the world is undergoing profound political shifts, the rise of right-wing movements, and the shrinking space for art and culture, we believe it's crucial to create new narratives.

We're looking for contributions that explore the future through fresh perspectives — ones that challenge the status quo and offer new, positive stories. Whether it’s art & culture, human & ecology, world & action, or sex & identity, we want to amplify voices that inspire change and envision a more inclusive, creative, and just future.

We’re accepting essays, interviews, opinions, and short stories — anything that offers a new take on what lies ahead. Submissions should be no longer than 1500 words, and can be in English or Dutch (translations are welcome).

Submit your work by May 31 to rephrasemagazine@gmail.com, along with a short bio (max. 100 words).

Let’s rephrase the future. Share and spread the word!

A small note: We receive many beautiful, thoughtful pieces—and we’re grateful for each one. Our editorial team is small and works on a volunteer basis, which means our reading process takes time. If you don’t hear from us within three months, it likely means we won’t be moving forward with your submission. As much as we’d love to respond to everyone personally, we’re not always able to offer individual feedback.
